Mesothelioma Mesothelioma is a cancerous growth that is found in the organs' linings like the abdomen and lungs (pleura) is caused by asbestos exposure. It's usually caused by exposure to asbestos, a group of minerals comprised of microscopic fibres. Mesothelioma can develop anywhere between 20 and 60 years after exposure.
